Jane's Walk MKE is back for its 4th year! Last year, the community hosted 36 free, resident-led walks, bikes, and paddles all around the city, from Villard to Lincoln Avenues and Hawthorn Glen to the lakefront. Almost 1,000 residents participated in the events.

Everyone Leads: Celebrating 25 Years of Public Allies Milwaukee

Public Allies believes that communities already have the leadership they need to create lasting social change. We connect local emerging leaders to the issues and causes that ignite their passion. This year marks 25 years of operating our signature nonprofit apprenticeship program and developing leadership in every corner of our city.

On Monday, April 15, 2019 we will gather generations of Alumni and friends of Public Allies Milwaukee at Turner Hall Ballroom to celebrate 25 years of impact in Milwaukee and look forward to the next 25 years. 

Event will feature dinner by Bartolotta's Catering, program by Ex Fabula, music by True Skool, Inc., and the return of the Celebrity Doodle Auction!

Year Spectacular! Ex Fabula has assembled some of Milwaukee’s best storytellers for

an evening of true and personal storytelling. This noncompetitive curated StorySlam will

return to Turner Hall Ballroom located in Downtown Milwaukee; doors open at 6:30pm,

stories begin at 7:30pm.

M.L. King Day Justice Program

For the 18th year, the Dr. Martin Luther King Justice Coalition is sponsoring the M.L. King Day Justice Program and March. It will take place on Dr. King’s holiday, Monday, Jan 21, 2019 at St Francis of Assisi Church, 1927 N. Vel Phillips Ave. (4th and Brown) at 1 pm. The March to Dr. King’s statue follows the program at 2:30 pm with an open mic.

Immigration and the City in the Trump Era

The 12th Annual Henry W. Maier State of Milwaukee Summit will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 5:30-7 pm in the UWM Union Alumni Fireside Lounge (2200 E. Kenwood Blvd, Milwaukee).  A distinguished panel will discuss immigration policy, immigrants' rights movements, and refugee resettlement experiences in Milwaukee under the current administration, and highlight advocacy efforts and successful programs.  A reception will follow the talk.

Armistice Day, which began as a day to promote world peace, has become Veterans Day, and too often celebrates militarism and war. Veterans For Peace and other peace and justice groups want to reclaim the day for peace. This is the 10th year we have held an event in the City Hall rotunda. All are welcome.
